Skin Cancer And Pollution
According to Services Hospital Dermatology Department head Prof
Azam Bokhari environmental pollution is fueling skin diseases. He believes that more than 85% of people who are
suffering from skin diseases, actually have them due to environmental pollutions. He also states that skin diseases
have increased in Pakistan in recent years due to the fact that pollution has risen dramatically in that country.
Stating, “Skin diseases are common in males and females in Pakistan, but not of a serious nature as they (diseases)
are in western countries.”
Professor Azam Bokhari also stated that he believes that the West suffers more
from skin diseases than in Pakistan. He feels that they become more serious than they do in the East because of
the major differences in environment and climate. He also believes that people put themselves at risk by using
cream soaps and foods to maintain skin that can be harmful and that only prescribed soaps and cream should be
used for skin diseases,
There are more than 3,000 kinds of skin diseases and some of them, not treated
properly, could cause skin cancer. Medical science has developed treatment for skin diseases, and people should
immediately go to their doctor if they find any sign of skin disease.
